We often think of "vocation" as applying to working in the Church as a Sister or a Brother or a Priest. But, we all have a vocation: a divine purpose in life, a reason we were born. Discerning, or figuring out and choosing, our vocation is one of the major tasks of our life. A vocation is not just a way to make money, though supporting ourselves and having what we need is an important human task. Nor is a vocation just a way of using our talents, though doing something meaningful with our life and gifts is an important human task. A vocation is how we honor the God who made us and sustains our life. A vocation is how we make a difference, how we enliven God’s creation.
There are some things that can help us discern our vocation: - Prayer
- Paying attention to what makes us happy, to what excites us, to what inspires us
- Talking with a trusted friend.
Perhaps you have a vocation to be a Daughter of Charity; perhaps your divine purpose is something different. Whatever it is, the Daughters of Charity would like to help you find your vocation. Contact Sr. Mary Frate at srmarydc@yahoo.com . Sr. Mary will be happy to pray with you and for you and to help you listen to what makes you happy, what excites you, what inspires you.
