Do you get paid when you work?
If you’re asking if I get a salary for work that I do, the answer is YES. If you’re asking if I get it myself, the answer is NO. Any money that I earn in my ministry belongs to the Daughters of Charity. It’s part of my vow of poverty whereas I give over my earning power to my community which supports me very well. Right now I am part of our community’s leadership team, so my work is my gift to the Sisters and to the poor! - Sister Maura Hobart
I am in a salaried position but do not get paid personally; the salary for my position goes directly to my Community to be used for the support of our elderly and infirm sisters as well as to support the many sisters who do not have a ministry that is salaried. - Sister Marilyn Perkins
If by "paid" you mean does money change hands, no. But I have been paid in many more ways than one can imagine! A piece of my ministry here at the Motherhouse in Paris is hospitality. As an example, I was "paid" recently when I could be in touch with the holiness of the Sisters who came here on pilgrimage. – Sr. Mary Frances Barnes
