MEET SISTER ROSE LOGAN

Sister Rose grew up in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the oldest of four children. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Ireland and her Dad was a landscaper by trade.

"My mother died when she was quite young, leaving my father a widower with four children, all under seven years of age. The Daughters of Charity helped my father to care for his children for a few years after my mother’s death. The Daughters I knew as a child were warm and caring people who could deal with life’s difficulties without becoming overwhelmed. There was a wholesomeness and relatedness about the Daughters that attracted me and made me want to understand the 'why'? of their lives."

"As a teenager and young adult, I lost contact with the Daughters for several years, but the impression they made stayed with me and kept surfacing as I questioned the "why?" and the "how?" of my own life. Finally, at age 24 I decided that the best way to find out the "why?" of the Daughters’ life was to try it out for myself."

Sister Rose has an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph’s College, Emmitsburg and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham. She has been an elementary school teacher, a clinical social worker, and the administrator of multi-service agencies providing a range of behavioral healthcare and special education services to children and families.

Some of her favorite things are puttering, enjoying nature, reading, gardening, and sewing. Sister Rose admits to loving to figure things out: her many talents enable her to do this well!

She is the Provincial Assistant, with responsibility for the social ministries in which the Sisters are engaged.
