Sister Fredrica Dunn, RN, FNP has a goal. She wants to be an active working nurse for at least 50 years.
Sister Fredrica graduated from St. Mary’s College in Amsterdam, New York with a Registered Nursing degree in 1957. She obtained her B.S. degree in 1964 and her Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Albany Medical College in 1981. Throughout her 48 years of nursing she has worked in a variety of settings including pediatrics, medical/surgical care, critical care and education. For the last eight years she has put all of that experience to good use in the Hospice setting. She is loved and appreciated by the patients, families and physicians she interacts with on a daily basis.
Sr. Fredrica has said that she enjoys helping people at the most vulnerable time of life, assisting with comfort, emotional and spiritual support. "I feel needed and appreciated and get far more from my patients and families than I could ever give back. I’m hoping someone will help me with my journey to heaven someday."
Sister Fredrica is full of energy and even after a busy day at work she cooks, gardens, walks and rides her bicycle. She also is an accomplished quilter and has generously donated some of her beautiful quilts to the Hospice department for fund raisers. She certainly offers that ‘special kind of caring’ to each and every person she comes in contact with daily. She is truly an inspiration and Hospice is proud to have her as part of their team.
