The local community is the primary place of belonging for the Daughters of Charity. Community living fosters among them a sharing that extends not only to material conditions but also to spiritual and apostolic commitments. In dialogue experiences are shared, differences are minimized and decisions are sought together.

St. Mark’s House in Harlem is a local community setting for three Daughters of Charity. Sr. Catherine is the principal of St. Mark’s school, Sr. Catherine teaches a course in Vincentian Spirituality at St. John’s University, and Sr. Joanne serves in parish ministry for Catholic Charities Community Services in Orange County.
